English 7 / English 7 GATE
English 7 Cluster is a one-year course offering in-depth study of both literature and written language techniques. A strong independent reading program, the study of vocabulary, written language, and oral communication are important building blocks of this course. In addition, the teacher will create a rigorous questioning environment in which students will be encouraged to reflect on textual evidence, problem solve, and develop further questioning.
This English class is better described as a Language Arts program. It is designed to teach students a variety of skills related to reading, writing, and speaking. In this course, students will work to become proficient communicators.
1. They will express ideas clearly, effectively, and creatively in writing.
2. They will master the use language conventions: form, grammar, punctuation, and word usage.
3. They will read with an analytical mind.
4. They will develop a more broad vocabulary.
5. They will speak with authority while addressing the audience appropriately.
